This tapestry shows a part of the scraped, overpainted and worn hull of a boat on a beach in Lithuania, near where my great-grandparents and their children set out on their voyage to Canada. The title also refers to my attempts to understand them and the place and way of life they left behind. The depicted detail of the boat symbolises their journey and their hopes for the future.
